KTR says BRS ready for local body polls, slams Congress

Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao on Monday said the party was fully prepared to contest the upcoming local body elections. He spoke after senior TDP leader Pradeep Choudhary and others joined the BRS in Jubilee Hills under the leadership of MLC L. Ramana. Rao welcomed them into the party.

He declared that the BRS was ready for any poll. “Whether it is a local election or a national contest, the mood in Telangana clearly favours the BRS,” he said. Moreover, he alleged that the Congress had deceived farmers, women, auto drivers, government employees, youth, and students despite its guarantees before the last elections.

BRS local body polls drive focuses on ‘Baki Cards’

Rao explained that the BRS launched ‘Baki Cards’ to expose what he described as Congress’s unfulfilled promises. He said the cards would remind every household about debts the ruling party owed to each section of society. “If taken door to door, these cards will become the Congress party’s undoing,” he stated.

Furthermore, he charged that the government failed to build even a single flyover in Hyderabad and neglected city roads for nearly two years. According to him, voters in Jubilee Hills would remember the development achieved under BRS rule and extend support in the by-election. Therefore, he predicted that a “BRS wave” would spread across Telangana and bring K. Chandrashekar Rao back as chief minister.

KTR intensifies criticism of Congress leadership

In addition, Rao accused the Congress government of forcing farmers to queue for fertilisers and angering women’s groups by ignoring schemes. He said the party cheated pensioners with false promises of ₹4,000 monthly assistance. Moreover, he claimed that unemployed youth and students felt betrayed because job and scooter pledges never materialised.

He ridiculed Chief Minister Revanth Reddy as “a Nero playing the fiddle while Rome burned.” Instead of addressing drains and streetlights, Reddy boasted about building a new city. Meanwhile, Rao contrasted this with K. Chandrashekar Rao’s leadership of the Telangana movement and his decade of governance that, according to him, placed the state in a leading position nationally.
