Hyderabad: The Krishnagiri tiger claim was found untrue after the Forest Department inspected the area near Basireddypalli. Parigi Forest Department Range Officer Pratima said there was no evidence of a tiger roaming there.
The claim surfaced on local social media on Sunday. Posts alleged that a tiger had been spotted in the Krishnagiri area of Basireddypalli village in Parigi mandal.
Following the reports, Pratima visited the location and conducted a detailed inspection. However, officials found no signs indicating tiger movement in the area.
The forest officials also examined the animal tracks circulated on social media. They said the traces appeared similar to those of hyenas or race dogs rather than a tiger.
Meanwhile, the department advised Basireddypalli villagers not to move towards the forest area. Officials issued the advice while clarifying the situation surrounding the social media reports.
Krishnagiri tiger claim prompts forest inspection
Deputy Range Officer Venugopal and other range staff also took part in the inspection. The team examined the location after the social media reports triggered concerns among local residents.
Following the inspection, Range Officer Pratima reiterated that there was no truth in reports of a tiger roaming in the Krishnagiri area. The department found no tiger movement signs during its assessment.
The Forest Department therefore clarified that the Krishnagiri tiger claim circulating on local social media was not supported by the evidence found at the site.
