Hyderabad: Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Tuesday directed officials to accelerate all ongoing and proposed works under the department, stressing the need for strong field-level monitoring and measurable progress.
Addressing a review meeting at the R&B headquarters in Hyderabad, Venkat Reddy said even Chief Engineers must visit sites to verify execution and monitor developments on the ground. He warned that regular reviews would track progress, which had to be presented with clear metrics each time.
He stated that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy was supportive of fund releases for the department, adding that efforts through talks with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari secured ₹300 crore under the Central Road Infrastructure Fund.
The Minister told officials to synchronise bill clearances with the pace of work and take ownership of timely completion. He emphasised visible progress across all work categories and directed effective ground monitoring.
Venkat Reddy highlighted recent internal promotions and postings as motivation for officers to uphold the department’s reputation. He asked the Engineer-in-Chief to study the feasibility of taking up 10 Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM) road packages and flagged the urgent need to identify black spots and vertical curves to prevent accidents.
Road projects in Tellapur, Ameenpur, Sangareddy, Manchal, Choutuppal, Chityal, Bhongir, Haliya, and Mallepally came under discussion, with the Minister noting steps underway to resolve land acquisition hurdles for better connectivity from mandal to district headquarters.
A detailed review of DPRs and tenders for HAM roads was scheduled within two days.
He also told officials to ensure key infrastructure projects RoBs, medical colleges, TIMS hospitals, and district collectorates are completed on time, with action plans prepared for each.
Venkat Reddy reminded officers that the Chief Minister expects new hospitals and roads to be opened to the public quickly, putting the onus on the department.
Newly promoted and transferred officials met the Minister and were congratulated during the meeting.
