Kollur 2BHK colony to get new school, health centre under ₹8 crore CSR push

Hyderabad: Telangana ministers Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and Damodar Rajanarasimha on Monday reiterated the Congress government’s commitment to welfare-driven urban development. They joined Housing MD V.P. Gautham and District Collector P. Praveenya during a visit to the Kollur 2BHK colony in Tellapur Municipality.

As part of the visit, the team inspected ongoing construction of the Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC). They also launched a ₹8 crore project to construct a 60-room government school, dining hall, and Anganwadi centre. VST Industries is funding the initiative through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) support.

Infrastructure boost for 15,000 families in Kollur

Minister Ponguleti emphasized that the government prioritizes access to quality education and healthcare for economically weaker families. He pointed out that more than 15,000 families reside in the Kollur 2BHK colony, and the government is actively working to create full-fledged infrastructure. Planned additions include a school, compound wall, and a sports ground.

Furthermore, he said TSRTC has already launched bus services in the colony. Additional routes to Nampally and Charminar will be rolled out soon. He thanked VST for its contribution and advised beneficiaries not to sell their homes below value.

Minister Damodar added that Kollur would soon resemble a “mini Hyderabad.” He confirmed that the UPHC will be ready by Sankranthi. In addition, he asked officials to ensure the new school matches private standards in terms of amenities and design.

Officials ensure sustainable planning and outreach

Housing MD Gautham warned residents against selling their homes prematurely, urging them to view the project as a long-term asset. Meanwhile, Collector Praveenya announced the installation of CCTV systems across the colony and confirmed enhanced public transport connectivity. She also said the upcoming school will house integrated dining and Anganwadi services for children.

However, the event saw the absence of Patancheru MLA Gudem Mahipal Reddy. According to sources, he expressed displeasure at not being consulted during planning. He reportedly objected to the programme being finalized without his involvement, calling it a breach of protocol.

Also present at the event were Additional Collector Chandrasekhar, Sangareddy RDO Rajender, RC Puram Tahsildar Saraswathi, housing officials, municipal staff, and representatives from VST Industries.
