Kishan Reddy slams CM, demands rollback of HILTP land policy

Hyderabad: Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy on Wednesday launched a sharp attack on Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, accusing him of enabling a potential land scam through the Hyderabad Industrial Land Transformation Policy (HILTP). He urged the government to revoke Government Order (GO) 27, which he said was crafted to serve corporate interests.

Addressing reporters in New Delhi, Reddy said the policy allows industries to shift from within the Outer Ring Road (ORR) and gives them the right to convert those lands for commercial use. “This policy does not protect workers or public interest. It was clearly designed to benefit big businessmen,” he alleged.

Reddy hits out at ‘unilateral policy-making’

Reddy criticised the Chief Minister for pushing the policy without stakeholder consultation. “Policies of this scale require expert review. Instead, the government is forming a committee only after notifying the policy. This is backward and irresponsible,” he said.

He further took a dig at Revanth Reddy, comparing him to his predecessor. “Telangana has found another ‘genius’ CM like KCR,” he remarked.

He warned that moving industries to far-off areas would disrupt the lives of lakhs of workers. “How will their families survive if their workplaces are suddenly relocated?” he asked.

Policy ignores farmers, raises traffic risks

Reddy also highlighted contradictions in the government’s approach. He recalled that the 2013 HMDA Master Plan had placed restrictions on farmers by classifying their lands under conservation zones. “Now, the same government is letting industrialists turn those lands into commercial zones. This is a direct betrayal of farmers,” he said.

He added that allowing malls and multiplexes in these zones could worsen traffic congestion in already dense areas.

Religious controversy adds to criticism

Shifting focus, Reddy also condemned recent remarks by the Chief Minister, which allegedly mocked Hindu gods. He called the statements arrogant and offensive. “The Congress and its INDIA bloc partners repeatedly disrespect Hindu sentiments. The Chief Minister must apologise unconditionally,” he demanded.
