Villages Became Self-Sufficient Under BRS Rule: KCR

Hyderabad: Former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao on Friday claimed that KCR says Telangana villages across the state became self-sufficient and economically strong during the BRS’s decade-long rule. He made the remarks while meeting newly elected sarpanches and ward members of Erravelli and Narsannapet—villages he had adopted during his tenure.

KCR credits BRS governance for rural growth

KCR highlighted that the introduction of Palle Pragathi funds, administrative reforms, and targeted support to Dalit, tribal, Bahujan, and women’s communities had bolstered the Panchayat Raj system and empowered rural Telangana.

Villagers present said many rural welfare schemes initiated under BRS had slowed down under the current Congress government. They referred to initiatives supporting agriculture, irrigation, pensions, and caste-based professions such as Golla Kuruma, Mudiraj Besta, Padmasali, Chakali, and Mangali communities.

“Golden age for Telangana villages”

Calling the BRS rule a “golden age for villages,” KCR said rural communities thrived on consistent financial aid and inclusive policies. He encouraged newly elected leaders to embrace self-help models, citing Gangadevipalli village, Professor Muhammad Yunus, and Anna Hazare as inspirations.

“Don’t wait for government handouts. Build self-reliant, people-led village economies,” he advised.

Former MLC Sheri Subhash Reddy and other local leaders accompanied him during the meeting.
