77.68% voter turnout recorded in first phase of Telangana panchayat polls

Hyderabad: The first phase of the Telangana Gram Panchayat elections saw a voter turnout of 77.68% by 1 pm on Thursday, with polling conducted across seven mandals — Bheemaram, Ibrahimpatnam, Kathalapur, Korutla, Mallapur, Medipalli, and Metpalli.

According to official data, of the total 2,18,194 registered voters in these mandals, 1,69,846 cast their votes.

Mallapur tops with 80% turnout; all mandals cross 74%

In Mallapur mandal, 32,913 out of 41,103 registered voters exercised their franchise, marking the highest turnout of 80.07%. Korutla followed closely with 78.79% (24,617 out of 31,243 voters).

Ibrahimpatnam saw a turnout of 78.13%, with 23,802 out of 30,465 voters casting their ballots. In Metpalli, 27,859 of 36,039 voters participated, registering 77.3%.

Medipalli recorded 77.43% turnout, with 18,777 voters from a total of 24,251. Bheemaram mandal had 76.67% participation, with 13,476 out of 17,577 voting. Kathalapur witnessed 74.75% polling, with 28,042 out of 37,516 voters taking part.

The smooth conduct of polling across all seven mandals indicates strong voter engagement in rural governance.
