Kavitha slams Congress for denying BC quota and distorting data

Hyderabad: Telangana Jagruti president K. Kavitha slammed the Congress government for refusing to grant 42 percent reservations to BCs. She said the ruling party misled the public with distorted caste data. The leader also urged people to remove Congress flags in villages, claiming the party betrayed BC communities.

Key allegations as Kavitha slams Congress

Kavitha accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of breaking his promise to take an all-party team to Delhi on the BC quota issue. She advised BCs to file nominations in all unreserved panchayat seats. Her remarks also targeted the BJP, which she described as a major barrier to achieving 42 percent reservations. She added that the BRS stayed silent despite being the main opposition.

The Jagruti chief said the caste census conducted by the Congress government was inaccurate. According to her, ministers and MLAs fixed reservation percentages without proper checks. District collectors reportedly pointed out several discrepancies. Kavitha alleged that the government reduced BC population figures by more than five percent in multiple districts.

She reminded that Congress allotted only 21 percent reservations to BCs. Panchayat elections forced Telangana Jagruti to make small changes to the Janam Bata programme, she said. Activities in GHMC limits will resume after polling. Kavitha questioned BJP MLA Aleti Maheshwar Reddy for attacking her statements and argued that allegations should carry basic clarity. She welcomed former minister Niranjan Reddy’s response but asked why land linked to former minister Gangula Kamalakar should belong to her. The land, she said, must be returned to the public.
