Kavitha joining Congress is a baseless rumour, says TPCC chief

Hyderabad: TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud on Tuesday dismissed as baseless the speculation that Kalvakuntla Kavitha, president of Telangana Jagruthi, would be joining the Congress party.

Speaking informally to reporters, Goud ruled out any such possibility. He stated that the BRS had no future in Telangana and continued to remain trapped in its past.

He further pointed out that Kavitha had openly acknowledged corruption in the family of former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao. According to Goud, her statements validated the Congress party’s earlier allegations. “People are realising the extent of KCR’s corruption through her statements,” he said.

Moreover, Goud said Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had committed to protecting Telangana’s welfare. The CM assured that not a single drop of water would go to waste in the distribution of river resources between the two Telugu states.

Additionally, Goud announced that appointments for corporation chairmen would take place in April. He acknowledged that the number of aspirants currently outnumbers the available posts.

To prepare for the upcoming municipal elections, the party will soon establish a dedicated committee. Goud clarified that the party would award tickets only to candidates with a clear chance of winning.

Criticising the BJP, he accused the party of trying to manipulate public sentiment by mixing religion with politics. “We too are Hindus who worship the same gods, but the Congress does not seek votes through religion,” he said.

In conclusion, Goud lashed out at the BRS government for what he described as irrational district reorganisation. He said Chief Minister Revanth Reddy would constitute a committee to carry out more logical adjustments. However, he clarified that the state government had no intention of abolishing any districts.
