High Court grants interim relief to BRS MLA Kaushik Reddy in quarry case

HYDERABAD: BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy has been granted interim relief by the Telangana High Court in the Kaushik Reddy case, which pertains to alleged threats over a quarry business dispute. The court has ordered a stay on his arrest until Monday in connection with the case registered at Subedari police station.

The court permitted the continuation of police investigation but directed that Kaushik Reddy must fully cooperate with the inquiry. The case involves allegations that Reddy threatened to extort ₹50 lakh from the owner of a quarry.

The FIR was filed based on a complaint by Uma Devi, the wife of a man named Manoj, at Subedari police station. The complaint alleges that Kaushik Reddy threatened Manoj in connection with financial dealings related to a quarry business.

Reddy has approached the High Court seeking quashing of the case, claiming that the FIR was politically motivated. His counsel argued in court that the complaint was timed to disrupt the BRS Foundation Day celebrations scheduled for 27 April in Elkaturthy.

The dispute centres around a quarry located in Vangapally, Kamlapur mandal, where Manoj is involved in business. While Kaushik Reddy has received temporary reprieve from arrest, the investigation into the matter will continue.
