HYDERABAD: Telangana’s Minister for Revenue, Housing, and Information & Public Relations, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, has announced that Justice for Farmers will be ensured under the newly introduced Bhu Bharati Act 2025. The initiative aims to resolve long-standing land-related issues across the state.
Speaking at a meeting in Chandampet mandal of Nalgonda district, the minister said that a pilot project for the Bhu Bharati scheme has been launched in four mandals and is expected to be completed by the end of May. From June 2, revenue officers at the tahsildar level will begin accepting land-related applications in every village. All services will be provided free of cost to farmers.
Land records to be digitised, Bhu Dhar cards introduced
The minister announced that 6,000 licensed surveyors will be recruited and each village will have a designated Gram Panchayat Officer. Every landholder will be issued a Bhu Dhar card—similar to an Aadhaar card—containing complete land details. Going forward, survey maps will be mandatory during property registration, and simple sale agreements will be resolved under the Bhu Bharati framework.
Reddy added that the government has already received 9.26 lakh applications involving simple sale agreements, and all genuine claims will be addressed. He said the Act is intended to wipe the tears of the poor and emphasised that officers must ensure its effective implementation.
Forest land and survey reforms
He said that forest land under delimitation will also be reviewed, and pattas will be issued to those genuinely cultivating the land. The government, he said, has planned a comprehensive resolution to all land-related disputes under Bhu Bharati, proving its commitment to problem-solving governance.
Bhu Bharati designed for long-term impact
Local MLA Balu Naik said that the Act was designed to be effective for the next 100 years and requested that Chandampet mandal be recognised as a model mandal. He also appealed for Indiramma housing benefits under an extended quota for SC and ST communities and urged resolution of delimitation land issues.
MLC Shankar Naik said Bhu Bharati has replaced Dharani and brought with it several welfare schemes aimed at the poor. MLC Neelakanti Sathya remarked that Bhu Bharati was introduced to overcome the many issues associated with the Dharani portal.
Streamlined processes and legal assistance
District Collector Tripathi stated that Bhu Bharati is designed to benefit all citizens. He noted that in 2020, six villages in Chandampet were blocked due to Dharani-related problems, which will now be resolved through Bhu Bharati. Applications for registration will be processed within 30 days, failing which they will be auto-approved on the 31st day. He also mentioned that free legal assistance will be provided and that land records will be updated annually.
The meeting was also attended by Market Committee Chairman Madhureddy, District SP Sharath Chandra Pawar, Devarakonda Additional SP Monica, and other public representatives.
