Hyderabad: Former minister Jogu Ramanna alleged that official negligence led to the Adilabad RIMS fire in the children’s ward and claimed poor AC maintenance caused the deaths of two children. He demanded a comprehensive inquiry and strict action against those responsible.
Ramanna visited RIMS Adilabad on Tuesday along with MLA Anil Jadhav. He inspected the children’s ward and sought details from officials about the fire and its aftermath.
During the visit, Ramanna alleged that the deaths amounted to a government failure. He demanded that the government investigate the incident thoroughly and take strict action against those found responsible.
He also criticised the government for allegedly ignoring representations about facilities at the hospital. In addition, Ramanna urged the government to support the affected families and provide them with assistance.
Adilabad RIMS fire leaves children ill after AC blast
The Adilabad RIMS fire broke out around midnight on Monday in the children’s ward. According to the details provided, an AC unit exploded following a short circuit, after which dense smoke filled the ward.
Hospital staff alerted quickly and moved the children out of the ward. Around 30 children were present there when the incident occurred.
Several children fell ill after the fire. Authorities shifted them to a private hospital for treatment.
The incident caused concern among the parents of the children receiving treatment at RIMS. Meanwhile, Ramanna continued to demand a detailed inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the fire.
He also called for action against those responsible if the investigation establishes negligence. The former minister reiterated his demand for government assistance to the families affected by the incident.
