Hyderabad: Congress Working President Jagga Reddy strongly criticised Union minister Kishan Reddy for writing a letter to senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, calling the move meaningless.
Speaking at a media conference at Gandhi Bhavan, the Congress leader asked why Kishan Reddy did not write to Prime Minister Narendra Modi about unfulfilled election promises. According to him, the letter to Sonia Gandhi had no political value.
He recalled that Modi promised to bring back black money from abroad. He also said the Prime Minister assured ₹15 lakh to every poor family.
Moreover, Jagga Reddy said Modi promised two crore jobs every year. However, even after 11 years, those assurances remained unmet.
He further alleged that Modi had failed politically in both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Therefore, he said, BJP leaders had no moral right to question Sonia Gandhi.
Jagga Reddy challenges the BJP on Modi and Congress promises
Jagga Reddy said the Congress implemented nearly 70 per cent of its election promises within two years. In contrast, he said, the BJP failed to deliver even two major commitments.
Under the leadership of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, Congress completed 10 out of 13 assurances, he said. Jagga Reddy then challenged Union minister G Kishan Reddy to debate Modi’s promises against Congress’s performance.
Meanwhile, the Congress Working President said the government would soon roll out the ₹2,500 assistance scheme for women. Additionally, he said a ₹12,000 support scheme for agricultural labourers was in progress.
He also said the government sanctioned 3,500 Indiramma houses per constituency. Where land was unavailable, the government began purchasing land from farmers for distribution.
Finally, Jagga Reddy said the Congress government remained committed to welfare delivery. He accused the BJP of misleading people with hollow claims.
