Ibomma Ravi custody report reveals crores in piracy deals

Hyderabad: The custody report of Ibomma Ravi surfaced on Tuesday and detailed illegal movie purchases, foreign-currency payments and large financial gains linked to online piracy, police said.

During questioning, Ravi told investigators that he bought films in two formats. He paid $100 for each camcorder print and $200 for each HD print. Police said he made all payments in dollars.

Investigators traced ₹13.40 crore to Ravi’s bank accounts. Of this amount, betting app promotions generated ₹1.58 crore. Police said Ravi sent up to ₹90 lakh from these proceeds to his sister, Chandrika.

Police said Ravi initially ran operations from Kukatpally. After his income rose, he travelled to several foreign countries for leisure. Investigators added that he continued managing transactions while abroad.

Police kept Ravi in custody for 12 days. Officers questioned him for four days in each of the three registered cases.

Ibomma Ravi denies charges during court appearance

During his court appearance, Ibomma Ravi spoke to the media and denied all allegations. He said the cases against him were false and said he would contest them in court.

Ravi told reporters that he would present the facts at the appropriate time. He made the remarks on the court premises after police produced him following custodial questioning.

Police said the investigation continued based on information Ravi provided during custody.
