City police launch safety awareness stalls at Numaish exhibition

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad City Police inaugurated dedicated safety awareness stalls at the Numaish exhibition on Wednesday. The initiative aims to educate the public on road safety, cybercrime prevention, and women’s security.

Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar and Additional DGP (Women Safety Wing) Charu Sinha jointly inaugurated the stalls. These were set up under the supervision of the city police to bring law enforcement services closer to citizens.

Focus on road safety, cybercrime, and women’s protection

Speaking at the event, Commissioner Sajjanar said Numaish has become a cultural landmark for Hyderabad, along with Charminar and biryani. Furthermore, he highlighted its growth from a modest 1938 exhibition into one of India’s largest industrial fairs. Now, it symbolises national integration and Ganga-Jamuna tehzeeb.

He stated that the stalls aim to increase public interaction with the police, especially regarding women’s safety through the ‘SHE Teams’ initiative. The stalls also raise awareness about rising cybercrime threats. In addition, he urged parents to bring children to the stalls to instill early awareness of traffic rules and road safety.

Commending the efforts of the traffic police, Sajjanar also praised Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) D. Joel Davis for the department’s round-the-clock service.

Additional DGP Charu Sinha noted that the stalls set up by the Women Safety Wing, Bharosa Centre, and SHE Teams offer essential support and legal awareness to women. In her remarks, she described the exhibition as a valuable platform to engage citizens in learning about legal rights and protections.

On the occasion, the Exhibition Society presented a donation cheque of ₹15 lakh to the city police as a gesture of appreciation.

Senior officials including Joint CP (Traffic) D. Joel Davis, DCPs Rahul Hegde, G. Chandramohan, V. Aravind Babu, Lavanya Nayak Jadhav, and Exhibition Society leaders Sukesh Reddy, B.N. Rajeshwar, and Dr. N. Sanjeev Kumar attended the event.
