HYDERABAD: Hyderabad City Police Commissioner CV Anand has directed the police force to remain vigilant as the Holi festival and the second Friday of the Ramzan month coincide this year, a rare occurrence happening after 35 years due to religious calendars.
In a virtual conference with officers, Commissioner Anand discussed the security challenges, emphasising the need for strategic deployment during the Kamuni Dahanam programs on Thursday night, coinciding with Isha Namaz and Tarabi prayers. He highlighted the importance of effective patrolling and crowd management to ensure communal harmony.
With Holi celebrations and Friday prayers, including Jumma Asr Namaz during Ramzan, happening almost simultaneously, Anand stressed the necessity of heightened alertness. He outlined steps for securing the city, ensuring peace, and preventing any untoward incidents. All senior officers, including Additional Commissioners, Joint Commissioners, and DCPs, will remain on duty until Friday evening.
Addressing concerns over recent notifications, the Commissioner clarified that such directives are issued annually to empower the police in maintaining law and order. He reiterated that the Hyderabad Police always act as facilitators for all communities during festivals.
Anand urged citizens to recognise the efforts of police personnel working tirelessly to ensure public safety. He appealed to the public to cooperate, celebrate responsibly, and avoid causing inconvenience to others. Peace committee members have also been requested to assist the police in maintaining order.
