Hyderabad: A man was remanded by the Panjagutta police for allegedly sexually assaulting and torturing a woman tech employee after luring her with a false promise of marriage.
According to police, the victim, a woman residing in Kapadia Lane, Erramanzil, had been living in Hyderabad for the past three years. She initially came to pursue a fashion designing course, but financial hardship forced her to discontinue her studies and take up a job as a technical support executive at Sutherland Pvt Ltd in Lanco Hills, Manikonda.
During this time, she became acquainted with the accused, Bhanu Prakash. He allegedly gained her trust by claiming he intended to marry her, and gradually drew her into a relationship. Over time, he reportedly began harassing, threatening, and physically assaulting her.
On the night of October 26, 2025, around 9:30 p.m., Bhanu Prakash visited the woman’s flat and began an altercation. Despite attempts by her roommates to intervene, he allegedly confined her in her room at around 2:30 a.m. and forcibly assaulted her.
The police stated that during the attack, he used scissors to inflict injuries on her fingers and hands, and physically assaulted her by choking her. He also reportedly threatened to throw acid on her or kill her if she approached the police.
Following the victim’s complaint, the Panjagutta police registered a case, arrested Bhanu Prakash, and remanded him to judicial custody.
