Hyderabad: BioAsia 2026 began at Hitec City on Tuesday with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy stating that Hyderabad had become a global vaccine hub.
Speaking at BioAsia 2026, he said sustained policy support and industry growth enabled the transformation. He recalled that when BioAsia started 23 years ago, Hyderabad was known for Charminar, biryani, pharmaceuticals and software.
However, he noted that the ecosystem expanded steadily over time. Along with IT Minister Sridhar Babu, he inaugurated BioAsia 2026 in the presence of global delegates.
He credited visionary leadership, stable policies and skilled human resources for the rapid progress. In addition, he said reputed institutions strengthened research and innovation capacity.
Over the past two years, the life sciences sector attracted investments exceeding ₹73,000 crore. Therefore, he described BioAsia as clear evidence of sustained sectoral momentum.
A few weeks earlier, the government announced a new life sciences policy in Davos. At the same time, it expanded Genome Valley to support advanced research infrastructure.
BioAsia underscores vaccine leadership and global expansion plans
Furthermore, Telangana invited several global capability centres to establish operations. More than 4,000 delegates from 500 leading companies attended BioAsia 2026.
Leaders from pharma, biosciences, biotechnology, bulk drugs, vaccines and healthcare sectors participated in BioAsia discussions. According to the Chief Minister, collaboration between science, artificial intelligence and biotechnology would deliver measurable outcomes.
He expressed confidence that BioAsia would gain international recognition similar to the World Economic Forum in Davos. Recently, the government unveiled the “Telangana Rising 2047” vision to guide long-term economic growth.
Under this roadmap, the state targeted a $1 trillion economy by 2034. Subsequently, Telangana aimed to expand into a $3 trillion economy by 2047.
Given current industry trends, he stressed the need for strong partnerships among research institutions, corporates, startups, MSMEs and the government. Moreover, he assured investors that Telangana offered a stable and future-ready ecosystem.
From bulk drugs to biologics, the state strengthened its position across the value chain. Rather than limiting itself to domestic competition, Telangana competed with leading global clusters.
Already, Hyderabad had become a preferred destination for global capability centres. He invited companies to invest, establish GCCs and build innovation centres.
Additionally, he urged them to design molecules, develop medicines, run clinical analytics and scale digital manufacturing. Finally, he assured that the government, scientists and skilled youth would actively support industry growth.
