Housing engineer caught red-handed by ACB while taking bribe in Adilabad

Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Adilabad on Tuesday caught a Housing Assistant Engineer red-handed while taking a ₹10,000 bribe under the Indiramma Illu Scheme.

ACB officers trapped Durgam Srikanth, an outsourcing employee of the Housing Department at Narnoor, around 4:04 pm. He took the bribe at the complainant’s house in exchange for uploading photographs of a partially built home. These photos are needed to release construction bills under the scheme.

Srikanth demanded the money to upload stage-wise construction images online — a step required for payment approval. ACB officials seized the bribe from him during the operation.

They said Srikanth used his position for personal gain by misusing official duties. Officers arrested him on the spot. He will face trial before the Special Judge for ACB cases in Karimnagar.

The investigation is ongoing. Officials withheld the complainant’s name for safety reasons.

ACB appealed to the public to report bribe demands. Citizens can call toll-free number 1064, send details on WhatsApp to 9440446106, or contact them via Facebook and X (@TelanganaACB). The bureau assured full confidentiality for complainants.
