HISFF 2025 opens in Hyderabad with focus on new talent, cultural unity

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad International Short Film Festival (HISFF) 2025 was inaugurated in the city. Roads & Buildings and Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy called it a significant milestone in Telangana’s growing film culture.

Speaking at the opening ceremony as Chief Guest, the Minister said Hyderabad has become a major cinema hub. Short films are providing an important platform for emerging talent and experimental storytelling.

Telangana committed to supporting filmmakers: Minister

The Minister credited the State Government, led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, for strengthening the film sector. He said the government is ensuring hassle-free permissions, modern infrastructure, and institutional support. This effort makes Telangana the most filmmaker-friendly state in India.

Highlighting the participation of filmmakers from all eight North Eastern states, he said HISFF reflects Hyderabad’s inclusive spirit and cultural vibrancy. “This festival represents Hyderabad as a Mini India,” he said.

Industry leaders and dignitaries attend opening

Tourism and Culture Minister Jupally Krishna Rao attended the event as Guest of Honour. Also present were Film Development Corporation (FDC) Chairman Dil Raju, FDC MD Ch. Priyanka, Festival Director Uma Maheshwar Rao, and filmmakers from across the country.

Minister Venkat Reddy officially declared the festival open. He congratulated the organisers and encouraged all filmmakers to continue creating bold and meaningful cinema “awards or no awards.”
