Harish Rao slams Revanth govt over repeated targeting of university lands

Hyderabad: Former Minister and BRS MLA T. Harish Rao on Wednesday accused the Revanth Reddy-led Congress government of targeting university land in Telangana. He said the government’s actions raise serious doubts about its commitment to education, research, and innovation.

Harish Rao alleges calculated land grab from universities

In a social media post, Harish Rao said the state had seized more than 100 acres from two key institutions over the past two years. These included Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University and Konda Laxman Bapuji Horticultural University. He added that 60 acres of land, housing a medicinal and aromatic plant research centre with valuable germplasm, had been completely destroyed.

He also claimed that the government now aims to take 400 acres from the University of Hyderabad (HCU). This, he warned, could harm forest areas and threaten local wildlife.

Harish Rao further alleged that officials have set their sights on 50 acres owned by Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU). He said these are not isolated events but part of a systematic attack on educational institutions.

“Does the Revanth Reddy government oppose universities, research, and students?” he asked. “Why does it treat land meant for education and environmental protection as expendable?”

Calling the actions disgraceful, Harish Rao accused the government of showing more interest in destroying learning spaces than building Telangana’s future through knowledge.
