Hyderabad: Former minister and senior BRS leader Harish Rao accused the Congress government of negligence following a spate of food poisoning incidents in state-run Gurukuls, demanding immediate corrective action.
Rao said four separate food poisoning cases had been reported in the last 48 hours at Nagal Gidda Model School in Sangareddy, Pedda Kothapalli Gurukulam in Nagarkurnool, Lakshmipur village Gurukul in Jagityala rural mandal, and Bhadrachalam Gurukul College in Bhadradri Kothagudem.
He blamed the Congress administration for what he called a collapse of the Gurukul system, alleging that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy was undermining the institutions to erase the legacy of former CM K. Chandrashekar Rao. “Isn’t your heart melting when dozens of children are hospitalised?” Rao asked, slamming the CM for failing in his self-declared role as education minister.
Rao further alleged that over 100 Gurukul students had died under Congress rule from snakebites, suicides, and food-related incidents. He demanded a response from the government and immediate redressal of issues plaguing government residential schools.
