Harish Rao slams Congress, BJP over BC quota inaction

Hyderabad: Former Minister and Siddipet MLA T. Harish Rao accused both the Congress and BJP of showing “hypocritical love” towards backward classes while ignoring key welfare issues.

Speaking to reporters on Friday, Rao criticised both national parties for failing to act on long-pending demands of the backward classes. He asked why Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and BJP MPs had not sought a Constitutional amendment to increase BC reservations.

He recalled that former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao was the only leader who formally demanded a dedicated BC ministry at the Centre. He added that the Telangana Assembly, during the BRS government, had twice passed resolutions to enhance BC quotas.

Harish Rao slams Congress for street theatrics on BC rights

Rao challenged both parties to end their “political theatre” and instead push for the BC Bill in Parliament. “The BRS will support any party that genuinely brings the BC Bill. Fight in Delhi, not on the streets,” he said.

He asserted that genuine efforts for BC empowerment had come only from the BRS. In contrast, Congress and BJP, he said, had limited themselves to symbolic gestures without any legislative follow-through.
