Hyderabad: BRS senior leader and former minister T Harish Rao on Friday condemned the arrest of party MLA Kaushik Reddy, calling it illegal and politically motivated.
In a post on social media platform X, Rao accused the Congress government of misusing state machinery for political vendetta. He alleged that the administration had been reduced to targeting public representatives and farmers alike under the guise of legal action.
Harish Rao said the Congress had failed on governance and had instead prioritised what he called “vengeful tactics”. Referring to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s repeated invocation of the Indiramma Rajyam, he claimed the current atmosphere resembled the Emergency era under Indira Gandhi.
Harish Rao asserted that arrests and criminal cases would not weaken the morale of BRS leaders or workers. He warned the Congress that it would be confronted in public for its failures and for deceiving voters with false promises.
The BRS demanded that Kaushik Reddy be released immediately.
