Greater Hyderabad cold wave intensifies as night temperatures drop

Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad cold wave intensified this week as sharp temperature drops and cold winds disrupted evening and nighttime activity. Cold gusts swept through the city from 5 p.m., leaving commuters and small traders struggling to cope. Temperatures continued to fall from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., forcing residents indoors as the chill deepened across several neighbourhoods.

Evening shift under the Greater Hyderabad cold wave impact

Daytime conditions remained dry from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., yet the weather changed sharply after sundown. Outskirts recorded stronger cold winds than core city areas, causing traffic on interior roads to decline by 8 p.m. The city logged 30.2°C as the maximum temperature on Thursday, while the minimum dipped to 14.4°C. Meteorology data showed that minimum temperatures stayed 3.5°C below normal for the past three days.

Several GHMC zones reported sharp drops overnight. Serilingampally recorded 11.8°C, while Ramachandrapuram logged 12.5°C. Rajendranagar saw 12.9°C, followed by Chandanagar at 13.3°C, Secunderabad at 13.6°C, Quthbullapur at 13.7°C and Alwal at 14.0°C.
