Government drops plan to shift offices to T-Hub after backlash

Hyderabad: The Telangana government withdrew its decision to shift government offices into T‑Hub after strong public opposition emerged.

Earlier reports said offices operating from rented buildings would move into T-Hub. However, the proposal triggered criticism on social media and in leading newspapers. As a result, concerns grew among startup founders and the public.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, who is currently in the United States, intervened in the matter. Accordingly, he spoke to Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao and issued clear instructions.

Therefore, the Chief Minister directed officials not to use T-Hub for government offices. He also asked them to protect the facility’s original purpose.

T-Hub to remain dedicated to startups and innovation

Moreover, Revanth Reddy instructed that T-Hub should function only as a startup incubator. He said the centre must remain focused on innovation and new enterprises.

Officials noted that shifting government departments could weaken T-Hub’s role as an innovation catalyst. In addition, they warned that such a move could affect its global standing.

The Chief Minister stressed that young entrepreneurs must not face disruption. Consequently, he said the entire campus should remain reserved for startup activities.

Meanwhile, the state government has announced a ₹1,000-crore startup fund. Additionally, the initiative aims to strengthen Telangana’s startup ecosystem.

The Revanth Reddy government has also set a target of nurturing at least 100 unicorn companies from Hyderabad by 2034. Ultimately, officials said this reflected the state’s focus on innovation-driven growth.
