Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Standing Committee approved 17 proposals during its third meeting held on Thursday, chaired by Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi at the GHMC headquarters’ Command Control Room.
Of the 17 items cleared, 14 were on the agenda and three were tabled during the session. The meeting saw participation from GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan and Standing Committee members including Bonthu Sridevi, Banothu Sujatha, Syed Minhajuddin, Sameena Begum, Abdul Waheb, and several others.
Among the major proposals sanctioned was the revised Road Development Plan to widen the stretch from Darussalam Junction to Osmania General Hospital via Malakunta Road to 30 metres. The committee also approved the acquisition of 102 properties to upgrade the Master Plan road width from 24 to 30 metres.
Further, approval was granted for the acquisition of 278 properties for a proposed road development from Puranapool to Karwan Sahu via Kamela, increasing the width from 18 to 24 metres. Another significant clearance involved acquiring six properties for the proposed 34.5-metre wide road connecting Sultan-ul-Uloom College of Law to Jalagam Vengal Rao Park.

The GHMC Standing Committee also endorsed a proposal for a multi-level flyover at the TV9 Junction under the H City initiative. This includes the acquisition of 38 properties and road widening in two key segments – 30 to 36 metres from Forex Foreign Exchange to Sultan-ul-Uloom Law College and 18 to 24 metres from TV9 Junction to Srinagar Colony.
In the area of civic beautification, an MoU was approved with Edibles & Fats India Limited for the development and upkeep of a park near Stone Valley, Banjara Hills Road No. 4, under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme.
Additionally, the committee ratified several sports-related expenditures. This includes the procurement of cricket kits worth ₹6.38 lakh for the GHMC Employees Cricket Team for 2023–24, and a further ₹13.22 lakh for sports materials supplied to 149 corporators for an event held in March 2023.
