Forest officer held in Nirmal over Rs 12,000 bribe

Hyderabad: Anti-Corruption Bureau officials caught a Forest Section Officer in Nirmal district while allegedly accepting a Rs 12,000 bribe on Thursday. The officer allegedly sought the money to facilitate renewal of a timber depot licence.

The ACB identified the officer as Aindla Ravinder, Forest Section Officer in the Khanapur Range and Division. According to the agency, Ravinder demanded the money from a complainant for visiting the timber depot and forwarding an inspection report to senior officials.

The Adilabad Range ACB team trapped Ravinder while he allegedly accepted the bribe. Officials recovered the tainted Rs 12,000 from his possession during the operation.

Nirmal forest officer faces case over licence renewal

Following the trap, ACB officials arrested Ravinder. They are producing him before the Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases in Karimnagar.

Meanwhile, the ACB said investigators were continuing their probe into the case. The agency alleged that Ravinder accepted the money in connection with the timber depot licence renewal process.

The ACB withheld the complainant’s identity for security reasons. The investigation remained underway following the officer’s arrest.
