Hyderabad: An Excise inspector bribe trap in Kamareddy led to the arrest of Prohibition and Excise Inspector Deenu Satyanarayana after Anti-Corruption Bureau officials caught him allegedly taking Rs.2 lakh at his residence in Bichkunda on Friday.
According to the ACB, the officer had allegedly demanded the money from a complainant to let toddy shops function without interference. Officials said the demand also covered avoiding cases against the shops and preventing pressure for their relocation. As a result, the Excise inspector exposed alleged misuse of official authority linked to toddy shop operations in the area.

During the operation, ACB officials also recovered Rs.45,760 in unaccounted cash from the accused. Subsequently, officers arrested Satyanarayana on charges of performing his public duties dishonestly and improperly.
He was later produced before the ACB Special Court in Hyderabad. Meanwhile, officials withheld the identity of the complainant for security reasons. The investigation remained in progress.
