Hyderabad: An elderly man died by suicide in Singapur village of Huzurabad mandal after allegedly consuming pesticide due to prolonged illness, police said on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Tummala Ram Reddy (65), who had been suffering from health problems for some time. According to family members, he had grown increasingly distressed over his condition.
Suicide in Huzurabad occurred near agricultural well
On Thursday morning, Ram Reddy went to his agricultural well and consumed pesticide. His wife, Bhagyamma, who was working nearby in the fields, was informed by him about the act.
Alarmed, she immediately alerted relatives, who rushed him to the Huzurabad Area Hospital. As his condition worsened after initial treatment, doctors referred him to MGM Hospital in Warangal for advanced care.
Despite treatment, Ram Reddy died while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Police register case
Based on a complaint from the family, police registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
