We have done a lot for tribal people, says KTR

Hyderabad: Done a lot for tribal people, BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao said on Sunday, asserting that the previous BRS government implemented wide-ranging welfare measures for tribal communities.

He made the remarks while addressing Sant Sevalal Maharaj Jayanti celebrations held at Telangana Bhavan in Hyderabad. KTR attended the event as the chief guest and paid tribute to Sevalal’s portrait.

Speaking on the occasion, he said former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao upheld the self-respect of tribal communities. He stated that the BRS government converted Lambada Thandas into Gram Panchayats and created 3,146 new Gram Panchayats. According to him, 3,146 tribal representatives had since become Sarpanchs in those villages.

KTR said the government provided drinking water connections to every household in tribal Thandas. He also noted that podu pattas were issued to tribal farmers, and four-and-a-half lakh acres were distributed in a single day. In addition, he said, hundreds of Gurukul schools were established for tribal children.

Done a lot for tribal people through welfare and reservations

KTR stated that the BRS regime increased job reservations for tribal youth. He added that the CMST Entrepreneurship Programme supported tribal entrepreneurs with subsidies worth lakhs of rupees. Moreover, he said overseas scholarships were provided to Banjara students.

He further claimed that land was allotted for Banjara Bhavans in every district and that buildings were constructed to support community activities. He assured that he would continue to stand by the Banjaras in the coming days.

KTR also accused the central and state governments of conspiring to weaken the Singareni company. He said he would make all efforts to protect the public sector undertaking and safeguard workers’ interests.
