Diwali rush: Telangana and Andhra markets see rise in firecracker sales

Hyderabad: Markets across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh witnessed heavy footfall ahead of Diwali, with firecracker sales registering a clear uptick due to stable prices and reduced GST burden.

Shoppers of all age groups flooded fireworks stalls in major cities, drawn by relatively steady prices compared to previous years. Retailers attributed this price consistency to a drop in raw material costs and tax relief on selected items.

“Rates for popular items like ‘tara’ and ‘bombs’ have remained unchanged, but demand has gone up by 10 to 15 percent this year,” said firecracker vendors.

In Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada, traders noted minor supply delays in certain areas. However, they confirmed that overall market performance had improved compared to last year.

Sellers said the combination of pricing stability, tax policy relief, and increased customer interest contributed to a stronger festive atmosphere and boosted retail momentum in both states.
