Diwali food safety drive: 45 Hyderabad sweet shops inspected for hygiene violations

Hyderabad: Food safety officials conducted intensive inspections across Hyderabad ahead of Diwali, targeting sweet shops for hygiene and quality violations. The three-day operation covered 45 establishments across the city.

Officials collected samples from each shop and sent them to the laboratory for analysis. During inspections, they discovered several violations, including the use of artificial colors, adulterated ghee, and substandard cooking oil.

In some shops, products lacked proper labeling and expiry date information. Inspectors also found unhygienic kitchen conditions, including the presence of flies and mosquitoes.

Authorities confirmed the use of spurious oils and poor sanitation practices in multiple outlets. They issued immediate notices to the owners of shops that breached food safety regulations.

Officials urged the public to verify labels and expiry dates before purchasing sweets. They advised buyers to choose only registered or trusted vendors to ensure health safety during the Diwali festival.
