DGP CV Anand orders action over Hafeezpet assault

Hyderabad: DGP CV Anand condemned the Hafeezpet assault on a woman by a home guard and ordered strict action against him. He said no circumstances could justify the conduct.

Anand described the incident as a serious violation of police department rules. Moreover, he said the home guard’s conduct towards the woman was unacceptable under any circumstances.

The DGP clarified that the home guard did not serve in the local police unit. Instead, he worked on deputation with the Railway Department.

Anand directed the Cyberabad Police Commissioner to remove the home guard from service. He also ordered the commissioner to register criminal cases against him.

Hafeezpet assault video triggers public reaction

Meanwhile, a video showing the Hafeezpet assault spread widely on social media. The footage showed the home guard allegedly grabbing the woman by her hair and dragging her.

As the video circulated, social media users strongly criticised the incident. Several users also demanded strict punishment for the accused.

The video eventually reached the DGP’s attention. Consequently, Anand ordered the home guard’s removal from service and directed the police to pursue criminal action.

At the same time, the DGP reiterated that the department’s rules could not justify such conduct. The Cyberabad Police Commissioner received instructions to take action against the accused.

Police action followed the circulation of the video showing the woman being assaulted in Hafeezpet. The orders included both removal from service and criminal proceedings.
