Deputy CM visits QuantumScape headquarters, explores advanced battery technology
Hyderabad: QuantumScape battery technology was discussed during the Deputy Chief Minister’s visit to the company’s headquarters in San Jose, where he met its senior leadership.
QuantumScape President and CEO Dr Siva Sivaram and members of the leadership team received the Deputy Chief Minister. Sivaram presented an overview of the company’s work on solid-state lithium-metal batteries.
The company is developing batteries with the potential for higher energy density, faster charging and improved safety. In addition, Sivaram explained how the technology differs from conventional lithium-ion batteries.
He also outlined the challenges involved in moving advanced battery technology from research to commercial-scale manufacturing.
The meeting covered the global battery supply chain as well. Discussions included critical minerals, advanced materials, components, cell manufacturing and electric vehicle integration.
Meanwhile, both sides examined how emerging battery technologies could reshape existing supply chains. They also discussed opportunities for greater diversification and new manufacturing partnerships across geographies.
QuantumScape battery technology and India’s advanced manufacturing ecosystem
Against this backdrop, the Deputy Chief Minister and QuantumScape leadership discussed India’s growing electric-mobility and advanced-manufacturing ecosystem.
The talks explored potential engagement across several areas. These included advanced materials and components, engineering and research and development, as well as supply-chain partnerships.
Furthermore, the discussions covered the longer-term possibility of localising or expanding QuantumScape battery technology in India.
The Deputy Chief Minister highlighted India’s growing capabilities in advanced manufacturing, engineering talent and clean technologies. He also invited QuantumScape to explore deeper engagement with the Indian ecosystem.
The visit formed part of the Deputy Chief Minister’s broader engagement with leading technology companies in the United States. Through these engagements, he sought to strengthen links between global innovation companies and India’s expanding advanced-manufacturing and clean-technology sectors.
