Dasoju Sravan slams CM Revanth Reddy over Class 10 results, Congress failures and ‘insulting’ remarks
Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader and MLC Dr. Dasoju Sravan launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Tuesday, accusing him of delaying the Class 10 results announcement for personal reasons, disrespecting a revered occasion, and failing to deliver on key Congress promises.
Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan, Dr. Sravan said the Chief Minister’s conduct on the day of the Class 10 results and Basaveshwara Jayanti celebrations was “disrespectful and unbecoming of his office.” He questioned the Chief Minister’s priorities, alleging that the results were delayed to accommodate his attendance at a private wedding.
“Is it acceptable for a Chief Minister to put lakhs of students on hold for personal events?” he asked, adding that similar delays were observed during the announcement of Intermediate results.
Dr. Sravan accused Revanth Reddy of using the Basaveshwara Jayanti platform at Ravindra Bharati not to inspire students, but to indulge in political attacks. “Instead of offering guidance or encouragement, the CM chose to hurl abuse at KCR, on a day meant to uphold values of unity and dignity. It was shameful,” he said.
He condemned what he called the Chief Minister’s “derogatory remarks,” including comments about “burying KCR,” and demanded a public apology. “KCR led the Telangana movement and served as Chief Minister for ten years. To speak of him in such low terms is an insult to the people of Telangana,” he said, also criticising senior Congress leaders like V. Hanumantha Rao for remaining silent.
Turning his attention to governance, Dr. Sravan said Revanth Reddy’s claim that he would remain in office for ten years was delusional. “Have you purchased the mandate from Japan?” he quipped. “The people of Telangana have dethroned more powerful leaders. They will decide your fate too.”
He accused the Congress government of failing to deliver key promises made under its ‘Abhayahastam’ guarantee, including:
- Two lakh jobs annually
- ₹2,500 monthly assistance under the Mahalakshmi scheme
- One tola of gold under the Kalyana Lakshmi programme
“These promises remain on paper while the Chief Minister focuses on rhetoric. Meanwhile, the real estate sector is collapsing and investor confidence is fading,” he said.
Dr. Sravan also warned of the neglect of key infrastructure projects such as the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme, saying it could have long-term consequences for the state’s agriculture. “Revanth Reddy’s priorities are all wrong. If he spent more time listening and less time speaking recklessly, Telangana would be better served,” he added.
He challenged the Chief Minister to a public debate at Amaraveerula Stupam on the state’s development and accused the Congress of undermining its own credibility by tolerating Revanth Reddy’s behaviour. “If he cannot defend his record, let him send a representative. The people deserve answers,” he said.
Dr. Sravan reaffirmed the BRS’s commitment to the values of equality and social justice espoused by Basaveshwara, and credited former Chief Minister KCR with institutionalising those principles through initiatives like Telangana’s Gurukul schools.
He congratulated all students who passed the Class 10 board examinations, particularly highlighting the 98% pass rate achieved by Telangana Residential Schools. “This success is a result of KCR’s inclusive vision for education. It proves that quality public education can uplift even the most marginalised communities,” he said, while also thanking the teachers for their efforts.
In conclusion, Dr. Sravan urged the people of Telangana to reject divisive politics and reaffirm their commitment to a just and inclusive society. “Let us celebrate our students’ achievements, honour Basaveshwara’s ideals, and work together for a better future. The BRS stands firmly with the people,” he said.
