Dasoju Sravan alleges police crackdown ahead of BRS peace rally

Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC Dasoju Sravan alleged heavy police deployment from late night ahead of the BRS peace rally called to protect Secunderabad’s identity.

According to him, police deployed hundreds of personnel across Secunderabad since night. He said authorities began issuing bind-over notices to thousands from midnight. Meanwhile, he claimed police confined senior BRS leaders at Telangana Bhavan. He named K. T. Rama Rao and Talasani Srinivas Yadav among those detained, along with other party leaders.

Questioning the action, Dasoju Sravan asked Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy whether Secunderabad was his personal estate. He accused the government of attempting to erase the city’s identity. He also described the Chief Minister as authoritarian.

BRS peace rally is a democratic right, says Dasoju Sravan

Referring to history, Dasoju Sravan said Secunderabad carried a 200-year legacy. Therefore, he questioned why a peaceful rally faced restrictions. He asked whether Mahatma Gandhi or Rahul Gandhi had ever opposed non-violent protests. At the same time, he recalled that the Chief Minister himself organised several rallies earlier. He cited protests near the Chief Minister’s Office and ED offices as examples.

Further, Dasoju Sravan accused the Congress government of provoking police action. He alleged that authorities filed false cases against party workers. Additionally, he claimed police arrested journalists illegally during the crackdown linked to the BRS peace rally. He warned that history showed many powerful rulers eventually fell. Hence, he said the Chief Minister’s time would also come.

Drawing a historical parallel, Dasoju Sravan recalled Aurangzeb’s attack on Golconda and the renaming of Hyderabad. Similarly, he alleged that the present government aimed to erase Secunderabad’s identity. He asserted that protest remained a democratic right. Finally, he declared that BRS would continue to defend Secunderabad’s identity despite restrictions linked to the BRS peace rally.
