Hyderabad: BRS MLC and state spokesperson Dasoju Sravan on Thursday accused Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and the Congress leadership of following double standards in Congress disciplinary action. He questioned the party’s handling of disputes involving Telangana Congress leaders.
Sravan also accused Revanth Reddy of betraying Backward Classes and the Telangana movement. Moreover, he questioned the disciplinary action involving Minister Konda Surekha following remarks attributed to her daughter, Appala Sushmita.
He asked why the Congress had acted against Surekha while taking no similar action against the Chief Minister. Sravan referred to reported remarks by Revanth about retaining the Chief Minister’s post for 10 years while making the comparison.
Sravan alleges double standards in Congress decisions
Sravan questioned the Congress high command’s approach towards internal disputes and candidate-related matters. He alleged that Revanth had unilaterally announced Revuri Prakash Reddy as the Congress candidate for Parkal.
At the same time, Sravan said the AICC had intervened to resolve ticket-related issues in other constituencies. He cited this difference while alleging double standards in Congress decision-making.
Sravan also questioned disciplinary proceedings initiated against senior leader Katti Venkataswamy. He accused TPCC Disciplinary Committee chairman Mallu Ravi of applying different standards while dealing with party leaders.
In particular, he questioned the approach adopted towards the Komatireddy brothers. Sravan also sought action over allegations concerning “gun culture”, land irregularities and other issues raised against Congress leaders.
BRS electoral bond funds defended by Sravan
Turning to political funding, Sravan defended the ₹1,489 crore received by the BRS through electoral bonds. He described the funds as officially recorded and transparent.
He also challenged Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy to an open debate on a range of financial allegations. These included alleged benami assets, land transactions, cryptocurrencies and other financial matters.
Furthermore, Sravan accused Ponguleti of invoking former MLC K. Kavitha’s name to divert attention from other controversies. He linked this allegation to what he described as failures of the Congress government.
Sravan also referred to land-related controversies and corruption allegations while attacking the minister. However, the allegations remained claims made by the BRS leader in his criticism of the Congress leadership.
Double standards in Congress alleged over inquiries
Sravan demanded a comprehensive inquiry into allegations involving land scams, “gun culture” and commission-based corruption. He said the issues required scrutiny rather than remaining confined to political exchanges.
He maintained that double standards in Congress disciplinary matters had raised questions about how the party treated different leaders. Therefore, he demanded accountability from the Congress leadership over the allegations he had raised.
Sravan said the Congress leadership should answer the people instead of restricting such disputes to the party’s internal forums.
