Hyderabad: Hyderabad City Police Commissioner C.V. Anand has been awarded first prize in the Excellence in Anti-Narcotics category at the World Police Summit Awards, scheduled to be held in Dubai on 15 May.
In a tweet, Anand expressed his pride in the recognition, stating that the selection process involved submitting detailed documentation of enforcement activities, seizures, arrests, community outreach programmes, and inter-agency coordination. The evaluation was conducted by an international panel of experts, followed by a comprehensive video interview that lasted over an hour.
Commissioner Anand remarked that the award was a result of the Hyderabad Police’s consistent and impactful action against narcotics. He noted that the panel appreciated the force’s efforts across several parameters, including strategic enforcement and public engagement.
The World Police Summit, held annually in Dubai, brings together law enforcement leaders from around the globe to recognise innovation and excellence in policing. Anand’s win in the anti-narcotics category marks a significant achievement for Indian policing on the global stage.
Anand has previously led multiple high-profile campaigns and enforcement drives against drug trafficking, often involving coordination with national and international agencies.
He is expected to travel to Dubai to receive the award in person.
