Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Mahesh Kumar Goud on Wednesday claimed that the Congress party is set to win nearly 90 percent of urban local bodies in the state Telangana civic polls. He cited strong polling trends from 116 municipalities and seven municipal corporations.
Goud said urban voters have clearly supported the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. According to him, the results reflect growing public trust in the government’s governance model and welfare approach.
Congress sweeps Telangana civic polls: Welfare schemes credited for voter support
The TPCC chief credited the party’s momentum to transparent governance, swift decision-making, and a focus on social justice. He pointed to schemes like the Six Guarantees, free bus travel for women, farm loan waivers, and Indiramma housing as key factors. These programmes, he said, helped build positive sentiment.
Additionally, Goud highlighted investments in roads, drainage, drinking water, and sanitation. These improvements, he noted, have boosted confidence among urban voters.
He described the expected win as a responsibility. Moreover, he promised that the Congress government would continue to prioritise people-first governance.
Goud also accused the opposition of misleading the public with false narratives. However, he said voters had clearly rejected those efforts.
He congratulated party leaders, candidates, and grassroots workers for their campaign work. Lastly, he pledged full-scale development of cities and towns in line with the people’s expectations.
