Hyderabad: After months of organisational freeze, the Congress high command late Monday night shook up its Telangana unit, naming 27 vice-presidents and 69 general secretaries to the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC). The long-pending appointments, cleared by party president Mallikarjun Kharge and announced by AICC general secretary K.C. Venugopal, come as the party seeks to build momentum ahead of key political battles.
The list includes a blend of sitting lawmakers, party veterans, and emerging leaders. Nalgonda MP K. Raghuveer Reddy has been named vice-president, alongside MLAs Naini Rajender Reddy and Dr Chikkudu Vamshi Krishna, and MLCs Balmoor Venkat and Basvaraju Saraiah. Kota Neelima currently serving as a TPCC general secretary and an AICC member is also elevated as vice-president.
With this reshuffle, the party leadership has aimed to strike a balance between regional and social representation, ensuring inclusion of leaders from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Backward Classes and Minority communities. Notable names among the newly appointed vice-presidents include T. Kumar Rao, Hanumandla Jhansi Reddy, Bandi Ramesh, Kondru Pushpaleela, B. Kailash Kumar, Namindla Srinivas, Athram Suguna, Gali Anil Kumar, Chitla Satyanarayana, Lakavath Dhanavanthi, M. Venu Goud, Kotimreddy Vinay Reddy, Kondeti Mallaiah, M.A. Faheem, S. Suresh Kumar, Bontu Rammohan, Afsar Yousuf Zahi, S. Jagadishwar Rao, Nawab Mujahid Alam Khan, Gummala Mohan Reddy, and Chinnapatala Sangmeshwar.
Among the 69 general secretaries appointed are three MLAs—Vedma Bojju, Parnika Reddy, and Matta Ragamayee—reflecting an effort to blend administrative experience with grassroots energy.
The announcement comes just days after the Telangana Cabinet was expanded, with three new ministers—G. Vivek Venkatswamy, Adluri Laxman Kumar and Vakiti Srihari—being sworn in. The parallel moves point to a broader Congress strategy to realign both governance and party machinery in the state.
