Hyderabad: The Congress Party’s Political Affairs Committee will convene at Gandhi Bhavan on July 4, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud said on Sunday.
The TPCC will also hold a general body session on the same day, capped off by a public meeting at LB Stadium in the evening. Attendance is expected around 15,000 for the event, connected to the Jai Bapu Jai Bheem Jai Samvidhan Committee gathering.
Addressing reporters, Mahesh Kumar Goud stated the party’s Disciplinary Committee would review matters involving Warangal-based leaders.
He accused the BJP of pursuing fascist methods and said the party had no standing to question Congress policies.
Referring to late Congress leader D. Srinivas, Mahesh Kumar Goud objected to a BJP leader taking part in the unveiling of Srinivas’s statue. He argued that Srinivas, who upheld secular values throughout his career, had never been with the BJP or RSS, and such an act would trouble his memory. Although the government allocated space for the statue, no Congress members had been invited, he noted. Srinivas, he clarified, had only joined Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) for certain reasons, but was never associated with the BJP.
Goud expressed confidence that Congress would win any future bypoll in the Jubilee Hills Assembly segment.
He said the party would recognise supporters who had contributed to its growth and reward them with appropriate roles. A statue of Congress leader Mukesh Goud would also be installed soon in Hyderabad, he added.
