Congress slams BJP’s hypocrisy over Ramzan leave, calls out double standards

HYDERABAD: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Official Spokesperson Syed Nizamuddin strongly criticized the BJP’s selective outrage over the Ramzan leave order, calling it hypocritical and opportunistic.

At a press conference in Gandhi Bhavan, Nizamuddin exposed the BJP’s inconsistency. He pointed out that the party, despite being in Andhra Pradesh’s ruling alliance, had no objections when a similar order was issued there.

“The BJP’s hypocrisy knows no bounds. In Andhra Pradesh, they remain silent while the Ramzan leave order is issued. However, in Telangana, they cry ‘appeasement.’ Why is BJP MLA Raja Singh silent there? Why isn’t Amit Malviya attacking the Andhra government? Clearly, the BJP doesn’t care about governance or fairness. Instead, it only survives by spreading communal hatred where it benefits politically,” Nizamuddin stated.

Furthermore, Nizamuddin described BJP as a “sinking ship” in Telangana, highlighting that the party is leaderless and divided. He noted that Raja Singh has even threatened to quit because no one listens to him.

“The BJP is in complete disarray. It cannot even appoint a state president. Consequently, it has no leadership, no strategy, and no credibility. To stay relevant, it is stirring communal hatred instead of focusing on real issues,” he said.

Dismissing BJP’s false claims, Nizamuddin reminded that the Ramzan leave order has existed for nearly 50 years.

“Since the 1980s, two orders are issued every Ramzan—one allowing Muslim employees to leave at 4 PM, and another permitting shops to remain open late. Moreover, even under Chandrababu Naidu, this practice continued. Was BJP in a coma all these years? Or do they wake up only when it suits their political propaganda?” he asked.

Similarly, challenging BJP’s ‘equal rights’ narrative, Nizamuddin noted that Telangana grants full holidays for Dasara, Navratri, and Christian and Sikh festivals.

“The Congress government in Telangana treats all religions with equal respect. In contrast, in BJP-ruled states, religious communities outside the majority live in fear and face discrimination. Therefore, who is the BJP to lecture us on equality?” he asked.

Additionally, he pointed out that Muslims form only 7.36% of Telangana’s government workforce, making the BJP’s outrage baseless.

“This early leave affects nothing. Governance doesn’t collapse. However, BJP thrives on distractions, so it manufactures fake controversies to divert attention from real issues,” he said.

Moreover, slamming Amit Malviya, Nizamuddin accused BJP of failing the Hindu community itself.

“Where was BJP when Hindu pilgrims died in the Kumbh Mela stampede due to mismanagement? Where was their concern when unemployment and inflation crushed Hindu families? BJP’s agenda is fake outrage and communal division—not real governance,” he said.

As a result, Nizamuddin declared that Telangana will never accept BJP’s politics of hate.

“BJP doesn’t stand for Hindus, Muslims, or any community. It stands only for chaos, hatred, and opportunism. Telangana will not drink BJP’s poison. Instead, we stand for inclusivity, progress, and real development,” he asserted.

Finally, he urged the BJP to answer for its hypocrisy, failures, and communal agenda before questioning Telangana’s inclusive policies.

“Telangana rejects BJP’s politics of hate, division, and distraction. We won’t let them destroy our social fabric,” he concluded.
