Congress blames BRS and BJP for stalling BC reservations in Telangana

Hyderabad: State Minister Jupalli Krishna Rao on Thursday accused the BRS and BJP of obstructing the implementation of 42 percent reservations for Backward Classes (BCs) in Telangana.

Speaking to the media outside the Telangana High Court, Rao alleged that the BJP-led Centre had delayed its approval of the BC reservations bill. He further claimed that the BRS had filed cases in the High Court to block the legislation.

Rao reaffirmed the Congress government’s commitment to delivering 42% BC reservation. He warned that BC communities across the state would hold both BRS and BJP leaders accountable for stalling the process.

He also said the state government, under Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, had completed a scientific and comprehensive BC caste census. Rao credited this initiative to the Congress party’s long-standing policy and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s direction.
