HYDERABAD: Tensions flared in Rajanna Sircilla district as a protocol-related dispute led to a physical altercation between Congress and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders. The incident occurred at a paddy procurement centre in Gambhiraopet, where Congress leaders allegedly attacked BRS members for questioning the absence of local MLA K. T. Rama Rao’s (KTR) photo at the inauguration event.
According to sources, officials had failed to display the photograph of KTR, the local legislator, during the opening ceremony of the procurement centre. BRS leaders confronted the officials over the breach of protocol, demanding an explanation for the omission.
The situation escalated when Congress leaders present at the event allegedly assaulted the BRS members who had raised the issue. Eyewitnesses reported that the attack was carried out collectively and appeared to be premeditated.
BRS leaders condemned the behaviour, accusing the Congress of abusing power and violating democratic norms. They described the incident as yet another example of the ruling party’s growing arrogance in the region.
Local residents and political observers noted that the conflict highlights increasing political tensions in Rajanna Sircilla, with party rivalries spilling into public events. The incident has prompted demands for official action and accountability from both sides.
