Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Saturday called for collective and coordinated efforts to safeguard the rights and dignity of women and children, insisting that justice should be felt beyond courtrooms and in everyday systems. Speaking at the 2025 State-Level Stakeholders Consultation Meet at the MCRHRD Institute, he said the vulnerable deserve a voice that is amplified by proactive state action.
The consultation, themed “Voice for the Voiceless,” was attended by Justice Suryakant of the Supreme Court, Acting Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court Justice Sujay Paul, and Director General of Police Jitender.
CM Revanth highlighted the role of Bharosa Centres as integrated facilities providing legal support, police intervention, medical treatment, and psychological counselling. Currently, 29 such centres are operational across Telangana. He said Hyderabad’s Bharosa Centre had pioneered the country’s first child-friendly court to ensure that children experience minimal trauma during legal proceedings.
While praising the framework of laws such as the POCSO Act and Juvenile Justice Act, the Chief Minister said their enforcement must remain sensitive to the victims’ mental and physical well-being. He issued a clear warning against cybercrimes targeting children, demanding uncompromising punishment for those who prey on minors.
Revanth also appealed for caution in the use of social media, warning youth and the public about its potential harms. He said awareness and vigilance would be key deterrents.
Calling on judiciary, police, child welfare agencies, and civil society to coordinate their response, Revanth underlined that the justice system must be accessible from police stations to child care homes, not only inside courtrooms.
