Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy welcomed the Padma honours announced by the Centre for 2026. He said the recognition of Telugu achievers reflected the region’s contribution at the national level.
According to the awards list, the Centre announced five Padma Vibhushan, 13 Padma Bhushan and 113 Padma Shri honours. Notably, 11 Telugu personalities featured among the Padma Shri awardees. Therefore, the Chief Minister said the honours brought pride to Telangana and the Telugu community.
Revanth Reddy said Telangana government adviser and noted cancer specialist Nori Dattatreya received the Padma Bhushan. He also noted that Gaddamanugu Chandramouli, Krishnamurthy Balasubrahmanyan and Kumarasamy Thangaraj earned Padma Shri honours in science and technology. Meanwhile, doctors Guduru Venkat Rao and Palkonda Vijayanand Reddy received Padma Shri awards for healthcare services.

Further, Mamidi Rama Reddy received the Padma Shri for contributions to animal husbandry. In addition, Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar earned the honour in the education and literature category.
Artists from different fields also received Padma Shri awards. These included Vempati Sashi Sekhar, Vempati Kutumba Sastri, Deepika Reddy, Murali Mohan, Rajendra Prasad and Garimella Balakrishna Prasad. Therefore, the Chief Minister said the honours highlighted excellence across sectors.
Meanwhile, Revanth Reddy conveyed his congratulations from the United States. He is currently on an official visit. He also announced that after returning to Telangana, the government would invite all awardees. The State will felicitate them officially. Finally, he said national recognition for Telangana-born talent strengthened the State’s identity.
