HYDERABAD: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has made sensational remarks regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s caste background. Speaking at Gandhi Bhavan on Friday, Reddy asserted that Modi was not originally from a Backward Class (OBC) community but was reclassified into one after 2002.
Reddy alleged that until 2002, Modi belonged to an upper caste and that his caste was included in the OBC category after he became the Chief Minister of Gujarat. He emphasized that his statements were based on thorough information and urged the public to consider this perspective.
The Chief Minister also highlighted his government’s initiatives, such as providing free bus services for women and constructing houses to uphold the dignity of the poor. He criticized former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao for allegedly deceiving the public with the double-bedroom scheme, suggesting that this betrayal led to the current government’s rise to power.
Reddy further stated that positions within local bodies would be prioritized for active members of the Youth Congress, emphasizing that only those who work diligently for the party would be rewarded, rather than individuals who merely display banners or flexes. He concluded by noting that the Telangana government has implemented an unprecedented level of debt relief for farmers.
These statements have sparked discussions within political circles, with various leaders responding to Reddy’s comments on the Prime Minister’s caste background.
