CM to relaunch farmer mechanisation scheme in January

Hyderabad: The Congress government will relaunch the farmer mechanisation scheme in January, Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao said on Wednesday. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will inaugurate the programme in the first week of the month.

During a review meeting at the Secretariat, the Minister instructed officials to complete all preparations for the farmer mechanisation scheme within the stipulated timeline. He reviewed progress with officers from the agriculture and allied departments.

Meanwhile, Tummala Nageswara Rao said the Congress government had begun restoring Central government programmes that the previous administration had discontinued. As part of this process, officials had already supplied subsidised pulses seeds to farmers under the National Food Security Mission.

He said the Chief Minister had approved the revival of the farmer mechanisation scheme to expand access to modern farming equipment. Under the scheme, officials will supply agricultural tools and machinery to 1,31,000 farmers at subsidised rates across the State.

At present, the department is receiving applications from farmers under the farmer mechanisation scheme. Therefore, the Minister directed officials to complete the application process by January and finalise an action plan for the launch in the first week of the month.

Farmer mechanisation scheme to follow mandal-level field review

In addition, Tummala Nageswara Rao instructed district agriculture and allied department officials to tour mandals in the first week of January. During these visits, they must collect field-level feedback on subsidies received by farmers, applications submitted under the farmer mechanisation scheme, and the functioning of the urea mobile application.

Finally, he stressed that officials should interact directly with farmers, understand their problems on the ground, and ensure immediate solutions wherever required.
