Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Saturday launched the second edition of the Chief Minister’s Cup 2025, themed “Rural to Global – Crafting Champions.” He unveiled the trophy, official brochure, and event T-shirt during the Prajapalana – Pragathi Baata programme held in Mahabubnagar.
The initiative, aligned with Telangana Sports Vision 2036, is intended to fuel grassroots talent and foster sporting excellence. Moreover, it aims to build a globally competitive sporting framework.
Structured competitions to span 46 disciplines across five levels
The tournament will feature 46 sporting disciplines and follow a phased, statewide structure. Competitions will begin at the Panchayat level from January 17 to 22. These will be followed by Mandal and Municipal level contests from January 28 to 31. Assembly Constituency-level events will be held from February 3 to 5. After that, District-level matches will take place from February 9 to 12. Finally, the State-level finals will occur from February 20 to 23.
This multi-level format ensures a clear talent pipeline from rural areas to the state stage. Consequently, it creates opportunities for sustained athlete development.
Tournament to be monitored through advanced governance systems
To enhance transparency and efficiency, the Chief Minister’s Cup integrates technology-backed governance. These measures include the rollout of unique digital player IDs and AI-based performance tracking. There will also be real-time grievance redressal via the T-GAMES platform. In addition, the tournament ensures continuous athlete engagement through TAGS.
As a result, officials can track every participant’s progress while ensuring swift issue resolution and fair play.
Initiative promotes inclusivity, women’s sports, and sports science
Moreover, the tournament emphasizes inclusive participation, especially for women and para-athletes. It also integrates sports with education and science-based training standards. Through these efforts, the government aims to strengthen both rural and urban sporting ecosystems.
The broader goal is to position Telangana as a national leader in sports by 2036. This will be achieved through consistent investments in athlete development and infrastructure.
Minister V. Srinivas Goud, Government Advisor A.P. Jithender Reddy, Sports Authority of Telangana Chairman Anjan Kumar Yadav, along with public representatives and senior officials, attended the launch.
